I'm pretty sure it's possible for the guy who made that quote, or others similar to him, to use a computer, drive a car and consume things, and still be right, isn't it? Now, you didn't say they weren't right, just that they are part of the problem too, and that they don't see it. Maybe some don't but I'm sure most of them do. I'm not an activist in this field, but I don't think they are hypocrites for saying this - he did after all say human beings, which may very well include himself. If he didn't, (or anyway), then he and many other should still be allowed to use computers, drive cars and consume things in my oppinion, as long as they are trying to moderate it all, and use it to promote their cause. If they should move into the forest with no connection to the outside world, their message would reach very few, and thus the benefits of shutting down their part of the "problem" would be less than if they partook a bit and rather tried to spread an awareness of the issue.

You probably vented and generalized. I agree with you at some points, but do hope there are "green activists" who live what they believe. Although, I share your questions to leaders of these parties who want to reduce the comforts and population for "mother earth" as they like to call it, they just don't want to start with themselves.
